WASHINGTON, DC – Today’s community roundtable hearing, entitled “A Candid Conversation with the Community on Preventing Bullying,” led by the Commission on Black Men and Boys, in conjunction with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), will feature remarks from Norton and Mayor Vincent Gray, as well as testimony from D.C. students who have endured bullying and parents of D.C. students who are currently going through bullying, as well as experts. Audience participation will be taken after the witnesses testify.

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will hold a community meeting on the issues associated with the Virginia Avenue Tunnel Project, on Saturday, November 23, at 2:00 p.m., at the Arthur Capper Senior Center (900 5th St SE), with the surrounding community, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), the D.C. Department of Transportation (DDOT) and CSX, the company that owns the tunnel and has proposed the reconstruction project.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Judicial Nominations Working Group, released her statement on the filibuster of Judge Robert Wilkinsfor a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. President Obama, like President Clinton, granted Norton senatorial courtesy to recommend federal district court judges and other federal law enforcement officials in the District. Wilkins was the first of Norton’s recommendations to President Obama for a vacancy on the district court, where he currently serves.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today sent a letter to House and Senate appropriators asking them to fully fund the Preisdent’s fiscal year 2014 budget request of $3.2 million for the Carter G. Woodson historic site project in the District of Columbia. The funding would rehabilitate the historic Carter G. Woodson Home as a national tourist site and educational facility.
