WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak today, Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 10:15 a.m., at 1100 Alabama Ave. SE, at the groundbreaking for the St. Elizabeths Gateway Pavilion. The Gateway Pavilion, being built in anticipation of the coming of the first federal employees to be housed east of the Anacostia River, will be a multi-purpose outdoor structure serving District residents, visitors, small businesses and federal employees. It is the first of several facilities for federal employees that are coming to the U.S.

Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and National Park Service officials, will speak today, Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. at the kick-off of Lunchtime Music on the Mall, on 7th St. between Madison Dr. and Jefferson Dr. SW. A performance by D.C. area singer/songwriter Nila Kay, who recently released her debut album, Serial Love, will begin at noon today with brief remarks by Norton and the sponsors during intermission at 12:30 p.m.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will join members of the District of Columbia's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community this evening, Friday, May 24, 2013, at the 23rd annual DC Black Pride Festival. A longtime advocate for LGBT rights, Norton will deliver remarks to LGBT people from around the country and the world who participate in the festival each Memorial Day weekend. Norton also recognized the DC Black Pride celebration in the Congressional Record.

WASHINGTON, DC – A day after Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) sent a letter to appropriators outlining the potential hazards of sequester-induced furloughs on public safety in the nation's capital, the National Park Service (NPS) announced that furloughs for Park Police will end effective June 1.
