WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today thanked Ronald Machen, the U.S. Attorney for the District Chairman, for his devoted service over the past five years following his announcement that he will resign his office effective April 1, 2015. Norton recommended Machen to President Obama for the position, which heads the largest U.S. Attorney’s Office in the country, and serves as both the local and the federal prosecutor for the nation’s capital.

Although heads at the top have rolled, endemic problems remain untouched at the U.S. Secret Service. Two apparently drunk senior agents barreled into White House barricades, no less, on March 4. Double the trouble resulted when the supervisor allegedly let the agents go without a sobriety test or arrest, even though they had upset a bomb investigation.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In the wake of renewed demonstrations and a tragic attack on police officers in Ferguson, MO, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced that she will introduce a bill to establish a grant program from existing Department of Justice funds to create local Task Forces on 21st Century Policing modeled after President Obama's Task Force on 21st Century Policing, which released its interim report on March 2.

The roundtable will feature a presiding panel of pro-choice leaders with Speak-Out witnesses who know what it would mean to lose choice.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today reaffirmed her commitment to defend two anti-discrimination bills that the District of Columbia transmitted to Congress on March 6, after the Heritage Foundation and other conservative organizations once again called on Congress to pass disapproval resolutions to overturn these two bills during the congressional review period. The Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act would prohibit D.C.
