WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today will give remarks to honor the D.C. Army National Guard's 1946th Support Detachment's return home at a Freedom Salute at the D.C. Armory (2001 East Capitol St. SE) at 3:00p.m. Norton has seen off every deployment and welcomed home every return of the D.C. National Guard during her congressional service.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today introduced the District of Columbia Paperwork Reduction Act to eliminate the congressional review period for legislation passed by the D.C. Council. The mandatory congressional review period imposes wholly unnecessary administrative costs on the D.C. government, Congress and D.C. businesses and residents who have no certainty when D.C. bills, covering major issues such as taxes and regulations, will take effect.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Norton (D-DC), in conjunction with a diverse group of organizations from D.C.'s hospitality industry, will host a Capitol Hill reception on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at 11:30am-1:30pmin 345 Cannon House Office Building (Cannon Caucus Room) to showcase D.C.'s local restaurants, nightlife, museums, shops, theaters, neighborhoods, and other tourist attractions to congressional and other regional staffers. Samples from some of D.C.'s best restaurants will be provided, along with a box lunch.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today that President Obama's fiscal year 2016 budget contains Norton's major D.C. funding and policy priorities, including a provision to allow D.C.'s budget and laws to take effect immediately upon passage by the city. Norton said she was particularly delighted that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) construction, a new D.C. research and innovation center for St. Elizabeths East Campus in Ward 8, and her D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant program (DCTAG) were all fully funded.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today said she will stoutly defend two bills recently signed by District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser from congressional interference, after a conservative group yesterday called on Congress to pass disapproval resolutions to overturn the bills. The Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act would prohibit D.C. employers from discriminating against employees based on their reproductive health decisions, and the Human Rights Amendment Act would protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today introduced the District of Columbia Budget Autonomy Act of 2015, her second bill of the 114th Congress, to allow D.C.'s local budget to take effect after it is approved by the city without congressional approval. Today's bill seeks to continue the progress Norton made last Congress on budget autonomy, including keeping Congress from overturning the budget autonomy referendum overwhelmingly approved by D.C. voters in 2013, support from President Obama, whose budgets would have granted D.C.
