WASHINGTON, DC -- Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today applauded news reports that the administration has decided to use authority granted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the August FAA extension bill to pay employees who were furloughed for two weeks during the congressional standoff. Norton argued in an August 18 press release that the text of the House bill, ultimately passed by the Senate, in fact authorized paying furloughed FAA employees, without need for a new bill providing for back pay.

WASHINGTON, DC – In response to a media inquiry, the Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said today that, contrary to what may have been reported, the continuing resolutions (CRs) passed by the Senate on Monday do not give the District of Columbia the authority to spend its local funds through 2012, as Norton has repeatedly requested.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) wrote to the mother of 18-year-old Dominique Frazier, who was tragically killed by another student at Bowie State University, and is being eulogized today at Assumption Catholic Church in Washington, DC. Norton called Ms. Frazier after learning of Dominique's death.
