WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) expressed condolences to the family of former Ward 6 D.C. Councilmember Nadine P. Winter, who served on the first elected D.C. Council in 1975 and remained on the Council until 1990. Norton's statement follows:

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today that Norton has been in touch with authorities who have spoken with former D.C. Congressman Walter Fauntroy in Libya today. Authorities have confirmed for Norton that Reverend Fauntroy is safely in the care of the International Committee of the Red Cross and is expected to leave Libya soon.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today expressed her deep personal sadness upon learning of the passing of Saul Solórzano, who was President of the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN). On Saturday, Norton spoke at CARECEN's 30th Anniversary Open House, but Solórzano had been hospitalized and was unable to attend.
