WASHINGTON, DC -- Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak this afternoon on the House floor on the closed rule for H.R. 1473, the final continuing resolution (CR) for fiscal year 2011. Norton will go the floor to protest the majority's refusal to allow her to offer amendments to remove the anti-home-rule provisions in the CR.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), who enforced laws for equal rights for women as the first female chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), today commemorated Equal Pay Day by introducing the Fair Pay Act of 2011 (FPA), to bring the Equal Pay Act (EPA) in to the 21st century.
Norton to Speak at Press Conference on D.C. Abortion Rider
WASHINGTON, DC -- Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), who will testify before the House Rules Committee today at 5 p.m. to seek removal of the D.C. abortion rider, will speak at a press conference with Mayor Gray at 1:45 p.m. today on her attempt to strip the rider from the 2011 full-year continuing resolution that would prohibit D.C. from spending its local funds for abortions for low-income women.
