WASHINGTON, D.C.—As part of her continuing work to maximize home rule for the District of Columbia, pending statehood, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced that she will introduce a bill to give the District the authority to appoint all members of the D.C. Board of Zoning Adjustment (Board), except when the Board is performing functions regarding an application by a foreign mission with respect to a chancery.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) was successful in getting the Republican-led Senate Appropriations Committee to provide in its fiscal year 2019 District of Columbia Appropriations bill $30 million for the D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant Program (DCTAG), a significant victory after President Trump zeroed out funding for DCTAG is his fiscal year 2019 budget, as well as funding for her other priorities.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today criticized the Senate for amending a coin bill on the floor Wednesday for the sole purpose of treating the District of Columbia as a second-class jurisdiction, even though D.C. residents pay higher federal taxes per capita than residents represented by all senators who made the change.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) and Congressman Jamie Raskin (D-MD) today announced that the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has agreed to their request to extend Yellow Line service during the morning and evening rush hours while the Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland-CUA stations are closed from July 21, 2018, through September 2, 2018, for maintenance.
