WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today said that she will continue to protect the 67 acres on the eastern side at the former Walter Reed Army Hospital from State Department requests for up to 13 acres of this property. The Department of Defense is currently in negotiations with the District of Columbia over the transfer of these 67 acres.

The annual event hosted hundreds of District leaders, decision-makers, and dignitaries. She received the award as a result of four projects from her work providing jobs and business opportunities for her constituents. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), a senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, today called former Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Terrance W. Gainer’s comments in a Roll Call article yesterday about fencing off the Capitol Complex, “desperate, distasteful, and disrespectful.” Gainer suggested adding a fence around the entire perimeter of the Capitol and “re-routing” traffic on Constitution Avenue and Independence Avenue.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today that the application deadline for nominations to the Service Academies has been extended for two more weeks, from November 3 to November 17, for independent and public high school seniors in the District of Columbia.

"We have received impressive responses from potential nominees, but would like to fill as many of our slots as possible and therefore have extended the deadline before moving forward with selections," Norton said.
