WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) thanked a coalition of over 50 national organizations for sending letters to House and Senate appropriators today to ensure that during the fiscal year 2014 appropriations process, which is now underway, D.C. home rule is respected and that anti-home rule riders are not added to D.C.'s appropriations bill. The coalition, led by DC Vote, consists of groups whose issues – reproductive rights, needle exchange, and gun safety – have been attacked in the past, using the District as a vehicle.

WASHINGTON, DC – Concerned by recent hearings that showed valuable vacant federal properties spoiling D.C. neighborhoods, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today introduced a bill to require the General Services Administration (GSA) to provide immediate public notice of federal properties identified as excess to their needs. The early public notification will help eliminate GSA's extended delays in using or disposing of federal properties for redevelopment, giving relief to taxpayers.

WASHINGTON, DC – The office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) has learned that freshman Representative Kerry Bentivolio (R-MI) has been seeking cosponsors to a bill he has drafted, but not yet introduced, that would prohibit the District of Columbia, and no other jurisdiction, from using automated traffic enforcement systems, such as red light and speed cameras, which are used throughout the United States.
