WASHINGTON, DC – With less than 20 days of Congress scheduled to be in session before the end of the year, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today will hold a Norton in Your Neighborhood with the Ward 5 Democrats at the Michigan Park Christian Church (1600 Taylor Street NE), from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In the context of the end of the year and what comes next, Norton will brief residents on congressional issues affecting them, including the provision she won, in the bill signed to reopen the federal government, that allows D.C. to spend its local funds for the full fiscal year while the federal government must function on a three-month continuing resolution.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today hailed the appointment of Lorraine Miller as interim president and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She is the first woman to hold the position. Norton has worked closely with Miller, who served as a top aide to three House Speakers – Jim Wright, Tom Foley and Nancy Pelosi – and as former president of the NAACP Washington, D.C. Branch.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, tried last night to get the Rules Committee to permit her to offer her amendment to the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013 (WRRDA) on the floor today that would authorize a study of the feasibility of a facility beneath the National Mall for water management and flood control, combined with parking and visitor amenities.
