Washington, D.C. – The Community Education Group will accompany Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's (D-DC) "Government-to-Go" caseworkers to the Chartered Health parking lot located at 3924 Minnesota Ave. NE, from noon - 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. This week's Government-to-Go program, which is free and open to the public, will provide HIV testing through the Community Education Group's mobile unit. D.C.'s high HIV/AIDS rate, attributed to injection drug use, has fallen significantly since Norton got a rider banning D.C.

Washington, DC – The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said that the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management, on which she serves as ranking member, will hold a hearing tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13, 2013,at 10:00 a.m. in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building, on proposals for a new, consolidated Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) headquarters in the Washington, D.C. area. Some members of Congress will be present to engage in the natural process of "marketing" potential sites in their jurisdictions.

Washington, D.C. – The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced that her Federal Law Enforcement Nominating Commission is accepting applications for an upcoming vacancy on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Judge Royce C. Lamberth, who was appointed to the court in 1987 and became Chief Judge in 2008, intends to retire July 13, 2013 and take senior status, creating a vacancy.

Washington, D.C. – In honor of Women's History Month, Unity Health Care will accompany Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's (D-DC) caseworkers to the Safeway in Ward 6, at 415 14th St. SE, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. today. Today's "Government to Go" (G2G) program, which is free and open to the public, will provide blood pressure screenings and information on family planning. High blood pressure is associated with heart disease, which is the number one killer of women in the country.

Washington, D.C. – The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today released Norton's letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator Shawn Garvin in support of a petition urging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to temporarily relocate a family in the Spring Valley neighborhood of Northwest D.C. because they have young children, ages one and five, living directly across the street from a property where the Army Corps has demolished a home and is beginning to excavate for potentially hazardous substances.

Snow is keeping federal workers at home today, and Congress will keep up to a million at home with the sequester cuts in today's continuing resolution. No emergency like snow or even the deficit will be responsible. The responsibility lies with the House majority, which has abdicated its responsibility to govern. The continuing resolution on the floor today embeds cuts that might be tolerable if spread intelligently and selectively over time.
