WASHINGTON, D.C. – After 16 years of work, a bill to form a commission on the creation of a National Women's History Museum (H.R. 863/S. 398) will soon become law. Rep. Carolyn B. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) hailed the achievement as a major victory for women.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced that Norton will speak about the 40th anniversary of the Home Rule Act and the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act and be honored at a ceremony by the Steering Committee of the District of Columbia Bar's D.C. Affairs Section tonight, Thursday, December 11, at 6:45 p.m. at the law firm Venable LLC (575 7th Street NW).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Although the House Rules Committee rejected, as expected, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's (D-DC) amendments to strike the anti-home-rule D.C. marijuana and abortion riders from the fiscal year 2015 omnibus spending bill this evening, she said she accomplished her primary purpose of putting on the record the alternative interpretation of the marijuana rider.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Upon release of the fiscal year 2015 omnibus spending bill, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today will testify at a House Rules Committee hearing, today at 3:00 p.m. in support of her amendment to strike the anti-home-rule marijuana and abortion riders from the omnibus and to put on the congressional record the alternative view of the marijuana legalization provision's effect.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak at the Deed Signing Ceremony to celebrate the transfer of the first federal property, Building 18 at the campus of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), from the U.S. Army to the District of Columbia, today, December 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the John A. Wilson Building, Room 509 (1350 Pennsylvania Avenue NW). Building 18, once demolished, will accommodate the relocation of D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services' Engine Company 22.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today said that, contrary to press reports, it is far from certain that the fiscal year 2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill blocks the District of Columbia from legalizing marijuana, but she called on Democrats, who control the White House and Senate and whose votes will likely be necessary for House passage, to erase any doubt by eliminating all restrictions and uncertainty on D.C.'s marijuana laws.
