WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will give remarks at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the first new Metrobus maintenance and storage facility to open in nearly a quarter of a century on Friday, September 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at 2 Village Lane SW. Norton is a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and ranking Democrat on one of its subcommittees. The new Shepherd Parkway Bus Maintenance and Storage Facility replaces the Southeastern Bus Garage, which was torn down to make way for Nationals Park.

In 2010, Norton's efforts got the first intercity bus service at Union Station, where four other bus companies now pick up and drop off passengers. Tickets for those other bus companies are obtained online, while Greyhound will provide a full-service ticketing facility on site.
